Recording
The mini player and the full window
Two windows, one recording. The mini player is for recording; the full window is for everything you've recorded.
recd has a menu bar dot and two windows. They all control the same recording, so start in one and stop in another if you like.
The mini player

A small floating bar, 380 by 56 points. From left to right:
- The record button. A red dot. While recording it's a red square: press it to stop. While saving it's a spinning ring, then a check for a moment.
- The status. Record when idle. While recording, a red REC timer and a ruler of twelve marks that fills every five seconds, so you can see it's running at a glance.
- What it records. When idle, a pop-up: Screen, Meeting or All screens. While recording, the name of what's being recorded, such as your display, Safari or Meeting.
- The microphone and a five-bar level meter. In a meeting it reads Mic + call audio.
- The expand button opens the full window (⌥⇧⌘M).
Drag the mini player by any empty part. Flick it and it flies to the edge of the screen and tucks in there. Double-click an empty part to open the full window.
To put it away, click it and press ⌘W: it flies into the menu bar dot. A recording keeps going.
The full window

- The sidebar lists every recording in your current save place, newest first, grouped by day: Today, Yesterday, then weekdays and dates. Search sits on top (⌘F). Settings is at the bottom.
- The page shows the open recording: its name, date, length and type, a Saved to Drive status, Copy link, the player, and the notes.
- The transcript runs down the right for meetings. Click a line to play from there.
- The top bar has Record (the red REC timer while recording), then Share, Copy link and Switch to mini player.
While something is recording, the sidebar shows a Recording… row at the top. Click it for the live notepad.
Close the full window with the red button or ⌘W. It hides rather than quits, and opens again on the same recording.
The menu bar dot

Click the dot for the menu: Start Recording, the three modes, your last recording (click it to copy its link), Recent, Open recd, Settings… and Quit recd. Double-click the dot to open the full window. You can turn that off in Settings › Shortcuts.
While recording, the dot becomes a red square with a timer, and the menu offers Stop Recording, Add Note at the current time, and Show Mini Player.
Switch between them
Press ⌥⇧⌘M to swap the mini player and the full window. Press ⌥⇧⌘O to open the full window from anywhere.
