About the beta

How invites work, what's built today, and what isn't yet.

recd is in private beta: a real app you can use every day, built by one person, changing often. Thanks for being early.

Invites

You get in at recd.io/beta with an invite code or a one-time link. Once you're in, the same page gives you your own invite links:

  • Each link works once. Text it to one person.
  • They get links of their own when they join, so invites spread person to person.
  • The page shows who used yours.

The page remembers you in that browser. Open it again any time to download the latest recd or see your links. See Install the beta.

What works today

  • Screen, window, app and all-screens recordings, with your mic and the computer's sound.
  • Meeting recordings with no bot, separate Me and Them tracks, and a live notepad.
  • Saving to your own Google Drive, with the link copied for you. Multiple Drive accounts and folders picked by link.
  • On-device transcripts and AI notes through your own Claude Code.
  • Call detection with auto-stop.
  • Crash recovery, Retry save, and warnings for silent mics and full disks.
  • Phone recordings through the Drive Inbox.

Not built yet

These you may see greyed out, or read about on recd.io. They aren't there yet:

  • Workflows (shown as Soon in the sidebar), such as writing the follow-up after a sales call.
  • A pause button.
  • Countdown before recording, Keep local copies, and changing the Recordings folder (greyed out in Settings).
  • Telling people apart inside Them: everyone else on a call is Them for now.
  • An iPhone app. Today, phone recordings go through a Shortcut and Drive.
  • Team features, such as a shared library or admin settings. Each person uses recd with their own Drive.
  • Changing the keyboard shortcuts.
  • A Windows version. recd is Mac only.

Updates

Download the newest recd.dmg from recd.io/beta and replace the app in Applications. Your recordings and settings stay. The version you have is at the bottom of Settings, like recd 0.1.0 (57).
