Where your recordings go

My Drive › recd, with Screen recordings and Meetings filed by month. Names start with the date and time.

With Google Drive connected, recd saves into a recd folder in your My Drive, laid out like this:

  • One folder per month, named like 2026-10.
  • Names start with the date and a 24-hour time, 2026-10-17 1400, so they sort in order and you can search by date. There's no colon in the time because Finder and Drive show a colon as a slash.
  • A meeting gets its own folder, so its transcript and notes sit beside the audio.
  • Nothing is overwritten. If a name is taken, the new one gets (2), (3) and so on.

To give a recording a real name, rename it in recd. See Rename, move and trash.

On your Mac

Every recording is written to your Mac first, then moved into the Drive folder when it's finished. recd's working folder is Movies › recd in your home folder (~/Movies/recd). It holds:

  • Raw: screen recordings while they're being made.
  • Meeting tracks: each meeting's separate Me and Them tracks, kept for the transcript.

Leave these folders alone: recd uses them to recover a recording after a crash.

If you choose This Mac only, finished recordings also stay in ~/Movies/recd, in the same Screen recordings and Meetings layout.

If you point recd at a specific Drive folder (see Save places), recordings go straight into that folder, without the Screen recordings, Meetings and month folders.

Something here not match what you see? Tell Nick and it gets fixed.
