What recd is
A Mac menu bar app that records your screen and your meetings, and saves plain files to your own Google Drive.
recd does two jobs that usually take two apps:
- Screen videos with a link. Pick a screen, a window or an app, talk, press stop. The video saves to your Google Drive and its link is on your clipboard a few seconds later.
- Meeting notes without a bot. recd records your microphone and your Mac's sound, so nothing joins the call. Afterwards you get the audio, a transcript made on your Mac, and AI notes with action items.

Plain files you own
Every recording is a normal file in a folder you can open: an .mp4 for a screen video, an .m4a for a meeting, with the transcript as a .txt and the AI notes as a .docx beside it. They live in My Drive › recd in your own Google account, synced by Google Drive for desktop. There's no recd cloud and no recd account.
Read more in Where your recordings go.
Where recd lives on your Mac
recd sits in the menu bar as a small dot. Click it for the menu. It also has two windows:
- The mini player, a small floating bar with the record button. It's what you see most.
- The full window, with every recording, its player, notes and transcript, and Settings.
See The mini player and the full window.
What you need
- A Mac on macOS 26 or later.
- Google Drive for desktop, signed in. Without it recd still records, and keeps the files on your Mac.
- For AI notes only: Claude Code, signed in to your Claude account.
