Links and sharing

Copy a link#

recd copies the link by itself when a recording is saved (unless After saving is Upload only). To copy it again:

• Click the top recording in the menu bar menu. It reads Saved to Drive · click to copy link.
• Press ⌘L in the full window.
• Click Copy link on a recording's page, or the link button in the top bar.
• Right-click a recording in the sidebar and choose Copy Link.

You hear a short pop when it's copied. If the button says No Drive link yet, Drive hasn't finished uploading. Wait a few seconds and try again.

The link is an ordinary Google Drive link, like drive.google.com/file/d/…/view. For an all-screens recording, it opens the folder holding every screen.

Who can open it#

recd doesn't change sharing. The link works for whoever the file is shared with in Google Drive, and by default that's only you (and anyone the recd folder is shared with).

To let someone else watch:

1. Right-click the recording in recd and choose Change Sharing in Drive…. The recording opens in Google Drive.
2. Click Share in Drive and add people, or set General access to your company or to Anyone with the link.

Share another way#

The Share button in the full window's top bar opens the macOS share sheet with the recording's Drive link, so you can send it by Messages, Mail or AirDrop. A recording kept on this Mac shares the file itself.

Links last#

Renaming a recording in recd keeps its link: Drive sees the same file with a new name. Moving it to another folder in the same Drive account keeps it too. Moving it to another Drive account, or off Drive, makes a copy there, so it gets a new link.
