Install the beta

recd is invite only during the beta. You get in with an invite code or a one-time invite link from someone already in.

Get in#

1. Open recd.io/beta. If someone sent you a link, open that link instead. It looks like recd.io/beta/?i=….
2. Press Record in the recd window on the page.
3. Type your invite code into the notes, like you'd type a note in a meeting. With an invite link, type your name.
4. Press Return or Stop. The page says You're in.

Download and install#

1. Press Download recd to get recd.dmg. It's small, and notarized by Apple.
2. Open recd.dmg and drag recd into Applications.
3. Open recd from Applications. A dot appears in the menu bar, top right, and the mini player opens.
4. Allow the microphone and screen recording when macOS asks. See Allow the microphone and screen recording.

Invite people#

Once you're in, the beta page shows your invite links. Each link works once. Text one to someone and, when they join, they get invite links of their own. The page shows which of your links have been used and by whom.

Update recd#

Download recd.dmg again from the beta page, quit recd (menu bar dot › Quit recd), and drag the new copy into Applications, replacing the old one. Your recordings and settings stay where they are.
