Recording consent

No one is told automatically that recd is recording. Telling them is up to you, and in many places it's the law.

Because no bot joins the call, recd is invisible to the other people. That's the point, and it's also why consent is your job.

Tell people

  • Say it at the start, before anything important: "I'm recording this for my notes, is that OK?" Saying it out loud means the recording itself shows you asked.
  • Stop if someone says no. Press the red square or ⌥⇧⌘R.
  • Mention it in the invite for recurring meetings, so nobody is surprised.

The law

Recording laws differ by country and state. Some places need only one person on the call to agree, which can be you. Others need everyone to agree. Workplaces often have their own rules on top. Follow the rules where you and the other people are, and when in doubt, ask everyone.

Sharing what you recorded

A recording's link only works for people it's shared with in Google Drive. Think about who should see a meeting before you share it more widely. See Links and sharing.

Something here not match what you see? Tell Nick and it gets fixed.
