Connect Google Drive

recd saves through Google Drive for desktop. Install it, sign in, and recd finds your Drive by itself.

recd doesn't sign in to Google itself. It saves into the Drive folder that Google Drive for desktop keeps on your Mac, and Drive for desktop uploads it. So there's nothing to connect inside recd: install Drive for desktop and sign in.

Set it up

  1. Download Google Drive for desktop and install it.
  2. Sign in with the Google account you want recordings in. Your work account is usually the right one.
  3. Check that Google Drive shows in the Finder sidebar.
  4. Open recd. In Settings › Storage, Google Drive folder shows My Drive › recd and the account it syncs with.

recd creates My Drive › recd the first time it saves. You don't need to make the folder.

When a recording lands in the Drive folder, Drive for desktop uploads it and gives it a Drive ID. recd reads that ID from the file and builds the share link from it. No Google sign-in, no access to the rest of your Drive. That's why the link appears a few seconds after a recording is saved, not instantly.

Without Google Drive

recd still records. Recordings stay on your Mac in your Movies › recd folder, and there's no share link. Settings shows Google Drive folder: This Mac only.
