Rename, move, select several, and Trash
Everything in the sidebar's right-click menu, plus search, multi-select, and how Trash keeps things restorable.
Everything here happens in the full window's sidebar (⌥⇧⌘O).
Find a recording
Type in Search recordings (⌘F). recd matches the recording's name and also the words said in a meeting, so you can search for a client's name or a topic. A match inside a transcript or notes is labelled Found in transcript or notes. Press Escape to clear it.
Use ↑ and ↓ to move through the list.
The right-click menu
Right-click any recording:
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Copy Link | Copies the Drive link. |
| Change Sharing in Drive… | Opens the recording in Google Drive, where Share sets who can see it. |
| Show in Finder | Shows the file on your Mac. |
| Rename… | Edit the name in place. |
| Move To | Moves it to another save place. |
| Open Transcript | Meetings: opens the transcript file. |
| Make Transcript | Meetings without a transcript yet. |
| Open AI Notes | Meetings: opens the notes .docx. |
| Move to Trash… | Asks first, then trashes it. |
Rename
Double-click the open recording in the sidebar, or select it and press Return, or choose Rename…. Type the new name, then press Return to save or Escape to cancel. A colon or slash in the name becomes a dash.
The new name becomes the file's name in Drive. Renaming a meeting renames its folder and every file in it named after it (the audio, transcript and notes), and its tracks on your Mac follow along. In Drive, the link stays the same.
Move to another save place
Choose Move To and pick a place: another account's recd folder, a folder you added by link, or This Mac only. recd keeps that place's layout, filing the recording under Screen recordings or Meetings and the right month.
Moving within one Drive account just moves the file. Moving to another account, or off Drive, copies it there and moves the original to that Drive's trash.
Select several
- ⌘-click recordings to pick them one by one.
- ⇧-click to pick everything between the open recording and the one you click.
The search field turns into a bar showing N selected, with Move to (a folder icon), a trash button, and Done.
Trash
Move to Trash… asks first: Move "…" to the Trash? Then:
- In a Drive folder, it goes to Google Drive's trash, where you can restore it for 30 days.
- On this Mac, it goes to the macOS Trash.
A meeting goes to the Trash with its whole folder: audio, transcript and notes. recd never deletes anything permanently.
